Ichikawa Firefighters
Paul Simpson was born in 1954. He started his karate career at the age of 40 years in 1994 with Kent Shotokan Karate Clubs. His dojo almagamated with the Shieikai Shotokan-Ryu in 1997 and Paul attained his Shodan (1st Degree black belt) from JKA UK, the examining panel consisting of Shihan Sidoli and an international panel from The Netherlands. Paul continued to train under his original instructor Ivan Chapman, when his dojo left the JKA and transferred to the Funakoshi Shotokan Karate Association where he attained 2nd Degree. Finding a need to progress his karate further Paul re-joined Shiseikai in 2003. Paul acts as a stablising influence to the younger Black Belts, and is always ready to give a guiding hand. As the oldest member of the Dojo he is an inspiration to those of all ages. Paul attended Gima-Ha training camp in Japan in July 2010 and accompanied Shihan Sidoli throughout a tour of Japan training in Gima-Ha plus Dojo's from friends of Shihan Sidoli's past including the Ichikawa Firefighters Karate Federation. Paul is currently the secretary of Gima-Ha Shotokan-ryu Karate Assocation UK.
