Shiseikai and Gima-Ha Shotokan-Ryu Karate-Do Association largely practise the same kata as found in other mainstream 'Shoto' (Shotokan, Shotokai) Karate groups, with some unique koryu kata, for example Gima-Ha no Gojushiho. This kata is practised along with the 'standard' Shotokan versions of Gojushiho-Sho and Gojushiho-Dai making 3 Gojushiho kata. NOTE:It is known that Kentsu Yabu - Master Gima's own instructor - had his own version of Gojushiho (some call Yabu no Gojushisho - referred to in Nisaburo Miki and Mizuho Takada's book 'Kempo Gaisetsu' (1930). I is related that Yabu's favorite kata was Gojushiho apparently based on older Chinese forms, and modified during the nineteenth century by Sokon Matsumura. It emphasises open-handed palm-heel and finger strikes (Noble, 1988). In hs book Dave Lowry writes that Yabu's version of gojushiho was 'like the motion of the surf, soft, soft, soft, as it comes in, then smash -- hard like a rock'. (Lowry, 1985). The original kata was called Useishi (54) or Gojushiho (54). We also practise unique variations of the other better known kata, such as Koryu Chinte (Gima-ha no Chinte) alongside the more usual version of Chinte. We also unique varitaions of beginner level kata, Tai Sabaki (body shifting), and Happo Geri (8 direction kicks). Shiseikai practise: Tai Sabaki Kata (Body shifting) Happo Geri Heian Series (1-5) Tekki Series (1-3) Bassai Series (Dai and Sho). Kanku Series (Dai and Sho) Jion Series (Jion, Jitte, Jiin) Empi Hangetsu Nijushiho Sochin Meikyo Chinte Koryu Chinte Gankaku Wankan Unsu Gojushiho series (Dai and Sho) Gima ha no Gojushiho
