Ichikawa Firefighters
Mark Carley was borin in 1968. He began his martial arts career circa 1989 when he joined a Taekwondo Kwwon. Finding it not suiting his particular physicality he changed direction and joined a local Shotokan style dojo run under the auspices of the Amateur Marital Arts Association. In 1993/4 that dojo almagamated with Shiseikai Shotokan-Ryu Karate, coming under the direction of Shihan Sidol. Mark was a 5th Kyu, and he has remained in the dojo ever since.He received his 2nd degree black belt in 1999. Due to his business commitments he took a sabatical from training in 2000 returning in early 2003. Mark represented JKA United Kingdom at the 1998 (Asai) JKA World Championships in Bern, Switzerland. However he received a heaviley broken nose that required emergency surgery whilst there. This injury curtailed hi competitive career on medical advice. Mark runs his own dojo in Woodchurh. Kent under the Shiseikai banner, and fills in with instructional duties at the Hombu dojo when required. He acts as the Treasurer for Gima-Ha Sotokan-Ryu Karate-Do Association UK.
